Nigeria needs a fully digitised national census and the harmonisation of data across government platforms if it is to build a stronger security architecture, upgrade public facilities and create a genuinely data-driven economy. Dr Desmond Oludare Ojumu made the call on Sunday, 11 October 2026, arguing that accurate, integrated information is the foundation for better national planning and lasting economic prosperity.
Dr Ojumu spoke shortly after his installation as Leader in Charge of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church (Sanctuary of Salvation) during the congregation’s 41st Harvest Anniversary and Installation Service at the Church Auditorium, Orile Agege, Lagos. The service, held under the theme “From Glory to Glory” (Deuteronomy 28:8), drew clergy and members from across the district, including Sp. Ap. Pastor Dr Fadeyi of SDS Yaba District and Sp. Ap. Pastor G. O. F. Ogunleye, Chairman of Area 5.

In his acceptance remarks, Dr Ojumu linked authentic leadership in every sphere to personal sacrifice and steadfast commitment to the people one serves.
“Leadership, whether in the church, the marketplace or public office, finds its true meaning only when it is rooted in sacrifice and an unwavering dedication to the welfare of others,” he declared. He reminded the congregation that the position conferred on him was a call to greater responsibility rather than privilege.
Turning to the wider society, he charged Nigeria’s political elite to recognise that power is a sacred trust given by God and ratified by the electorate. “Those who hold power must never forget that it is entrusted to them by God and by the people who voted them into office; therefore every programme and policy must be deliberately people-oriented,” he stated. He urged leaders to measure success by the tangible improvement in the lives of ordinary citizens rather than by the scale of personal gain.

He argued that accurate, integrated data would unlock better national planning and genuine economic prosperity. “There is nothing beautiful and fantastic happening abroad that cannot happen in Nigeria,” he declared, insisting that excellence becomes possible once leadership commits itself to evidence-based governance and a modern security ecosystem built on reliable information.
A prominent resident of Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, Dr Ojumu brings to the new role a distinguished professional background. He holds a B.Sc in Computer Information Systems and an M.Sc in Business Information Systems from the City University of New York, together with a Ph.D in Library Information Science from Long Island University. In 2008 he founded Streamline Security Services Inc., now the largest privately owned security provider in the United States Tri-state area, employing more than 6,000 personnel. He also serves as Chief Executive Officer of Eaglesvale Oil and Gas Services, with offices in Lekki, Lagos, and Brooklyn, New York, employing over 400 Nigerians.

Church leaders and members expressed confidence that Dr Ojumu’s blend of spiritual commitment, professional expertise and philanthropic record will further the mission of the Sanctuary of Salvation. His installation at the 41st Harvest Anniversary marks both a personal milestone and a renewed call for the church and the nation to move, in the words of the day’s theme, from glory to glory.
